Bird in the Water

from West by The Trouble Starts

/

about

(Like Springsteen joined the Replacements.)
(Like standing on the coast of Oregon in April.)
As close to a pop song as you’ve heard from The Trouble Starts, Bird on the Water, is an incredibly clean, gorgeous three and a half minutes of rock. An introspective look on the pressures of being, of growing and learning from mistakes. This is a song for coming out of it stronger. Delicate harmonies and optimism highlight the second track on the album.

lyrics

The moment you face the dawn alone the first time you hear the drone the futility is sharp & cold the sorrow is all but gone this is no way to travel down this is no way to learn you sell all your friends and cut cellophane & rust the lies are all stacking up cellophane and dust.

With the lyrical depth of Low or Sun Kil Moon, DGH's work is as powerful as late 90s post punk, & as emotionally honest as Jimmy Eat World, Idlewild, or even Fugazi.
